Using custom folders and automatic rules to keep your Outlook inbox organized
To organize your inbox in Microsoft Outlook:
- Create custom folders by right-clicking on your inbox and selecting "New Folder."
- Create mail flow rules by going to "File" > "Manage Rules & Alerts" > "New Rule."
- Set the conditions for the rule (e.g., sender's name, subject, or keywords).
- Choose the action to take when the condition is met (e.g., move the email to a specific folder).
- Set exceptions if necessary and save the rule.
Once you have created your custom folders and mail flow rules, your inbox will start to organize itself automatically based on the rules you created.
